Commissioning Day. One of Ashland's LCAACs tied up behind her.
Commissioning Day. USS Ashland (LSD-48) tied up at the waterfront
in New Orleans as the muddy water of the Mississippi River passes beneath her.
May 13, 1994 - The person in the picture is then ENS Straughsbough.
I am not sure on the spelling of his name. He was BOSN at the time.
Picture is taken on the O5 or O6 level port side around the corner
from the smoking deck. I am sure we were underway but don't know
what we were doing at the time. It was pretty rare to see him in
a relaxed mode and I had to take the picture. - Tom Grimmer
Just to critique Tom "GRIMMDOG" Grimmer's pictures a little. Picture
#1 was outside Ops lounge scuddle on the O-5 level and Picture #2 the house
flag, always flown for Unreps and coming in and out of port to be secured at
the breakwater "leaving port" and mooring. Unreps are underway replenishments.

Using the 25mm Bushmaster to clear away navigational hazards during the Cuban
migration. People around the gun from left to right are GMG3 Petrow,
FC3 Givens, and GMG3 VanHorn. Do not know the two standing near
the chaff launchers. - Tom Grimmer (99K) Click
